Join the New Mexico Allied Council on Tobacco (NM ACT) for our 2019 Day at the Capitol on Thursday, February 21 in Santa Fe. During this year’s 60-day legislative session, and NM ACT is advocating for:
- Increased funding for New Mexico tobacco control programs
- Increase the cigarette tax by $1.50, and raise tobacco products tax to an equivalent level as the increased cigarette tax
- Ensure Medicaid to cover all FDA-approved cessation medications plus, individual, group, and phone counseling
- Add e-cigarettes to the Dee Johnson Clean Indoor Air Act which will prohibit e-cigarette use in bars, restaurants and most workplaces off of tribal land
We will begin the day at the La Fonda on the Plaza with complimentary breakfast, networking, and training, and then move to the roundhouse for a press conference. Following the press conference, attendees will conduct legislative visits, and then come back together for a complimentary box lunch and debrief.
