Call for Presenters - 2021 NMACTion Conference
“Breathing New Life: Fostering Resilient Tobacco-Free Communities”
Deadline for proposal submission is Friday, February 26th, 2021
What are we looking for?
NM ACT is comprised of more than 500 organizations and advocates working together to eliminate the negative health effects and economic impact that commercial tobacco products have on communities across New Mexico.
Our mission is to advocate for proven commercial tobacco use prevention policies through state-wide partnerships to improve and save lives by reducing commercial tobacco use.
We do this by sharing innovative performances, ideas and experiences from different professions, leaders and organizations, spreading what works (and what doesn’t), and connecting communities, people, and organizations state-wide.
The NMACTion Annual Conference is known for its meaningful, relevant and significant workshops and activities, and also for the networking that is facilitated – our industry doesn’t often have this opportunity to come together for this degree of diverse education topics and discussion. This year’s conference is focusing on community resilience and commercial tobacco as an urgent public health issue, especially in light of COVID-19.
The tracks this year and the content we seek should fall under the following:
- Track 1- Nicotine Dependency Treatment
- Track 2- African American Population Track
- Track 3- Policy and Advocacy in Public Health
Who should apply?
We welcome applications from across New Mexico and beyond. We also welcome first time presenters. We're actively seeking to increase the diversity of our attendees, speakers, and sponsors through our calls for proposals, other open submission processes, and through dialogue with the communities we serve.
What happens next?
Successful presenters will be notified the second week of March 2021. Any changes to speakers after acceptance of a presentation for the 2021 NMACTion Conference must be agreed in writing with the 2021 NMACTion Conference leadership team. You can send your notification of a change of speaker to Tee Benally (TBenally@keresnm.com) or Michael Kelly (email@example.com).
Terms and conditions
The submission of a completed proposal form does not in any way guarantee the submitter or presenters a speaking slot on the program. Furthermore, it is not intended to create a legally binding relationship between the presenters and either the NMACTion Conference Planning Committee or the New Mexico Allied Council on Tobacco ‘NM ACT’. Please be advised that any offer to speak at the event will be subject to terms and conditions to be agreed at a later date.
Please note that all sessions are peer reviewed by the NMACTion Conference Planning Committee. Sessions are selected to fit with the 3 tracks and the annual theme of the conference, “Breathing New Life: Fostering Resilient Tobacco-Free Communities”.
Some presentations may be recorded during the event and published online by either the New Mexico Chronic Disease Prevention Council ‘CDPC’ or NM ACT afterwards - if your presentation is selected, we would request your approval for your presentation to be recorded and published in this way.
